Key to the species

Founded on: Wilcox, J. (1972): New species of robber flies of the genera Wilcoxia and Metapogon. - Bulletin of the southern California Academy of Sciences 71: 43-47; Los Angeles. [amended]

	Posterior margin of scutellum bare of tomentum. Wings of the males brown, females lighter brown. Abdomen black, lateral margins gray tomentose somewhat expanded apically on tergites.
	Scutellum all tomentose. Wings hyaline. Abdomen with at least some tomentum on the dorsum of tergites.

	Legs black, basal fourth of fore, middle, and basal half of hind tibiae bright yellow, apices of fore and hind femora yellow. Scutum gray tomentose, divided central stripe black, and small anterior intermediate spots brown. Length 6.5-7.0 mm . . . . . Wilcoxia cinerea James, 1941 [CO]
